Finance Report

Though managers and teams can be from anywhere in the world, to make finances easier the currency used is pounds sterling (to discover how much your club's finances are in your currency simply click here for a conversion).

At the start of each season, your chairman will give you two million pounds which you can use to strengthen your squad by buying new players from the transfer market. He will provide a further two million pounds spread over the season, at £100,000 per week, to pay your player’s wages. Any money not used to pay wages, or received from sales of players or sponsorship deals is made available as additional transfer funds.

Each turn, the club’s accountant will provide you with a financial statement showing a breakdown of your income and expenditure and current bank balance. The amount of money which you are in credit at the end of each week is the maximum amount of money your chairman will allow you to spend on transfer deals.

If, due to player wages, you ever get a negative balance, you will still be allowed to pay your player wages but after four weeks, your board will pick a player at random from your team and place him on the transfer market. If the funds you receive from the sale put your account back in order nothing further will happen but if not, another random player will be placed on the transfer market. Obviously, it is better to sort out cash flow problems yourself rather than let your board get involved!

At the end of each season, you and your players will be sent on a well earned holiday but when you get back you will find that your chairman has removed half of any remaining funds from your account. After protests, he will give you an additional two million pounds towards players for the new season.

Scouting

You will automatically send a scout to watch your next week’s opponents. He will provide a brief match report from which you can discover who are their danger men and what tactics they use.

You can, if you wish obtain a much more detailed report on a club by sending your Chief Scout to watch them. He will provide a detailed report on all the official matches they played during the week, including cup matches and his assessment of each player used. While he is there, staying in a hotel, he will try to pick up any gossip from the home fans and local newspapers.

A report from the chief scout will be at least four pages in length and costs £0.25 extra. You may send your chief scout, or his assistants, to watch as many teams as you wish.

You can get your Chief Scout’s report on all the following week’s opponents by using a Team Number of 0. This will also include cup competitors or if you are not involved in cup competition that week, a random team from your League. Your report will be lengthy and costs an additional £0.50 per turn. It is also a standing order, which means your Chief Scout will continue to watch your opponents each week until you issue another S 0 order to cancel him.

Scout the opposition (Team Number)
For example:  Scout the opposition  26  would have your chief scout, or his assistant, watch team number 26 and provide you with a full report.

For example: Scout the opposition  0 will either send (or cancel) your Chief Scout to watch your next week’s opponents, and a random team if no cup match, and provide you with a full report.
