Menahem - Turn 302
(The Story so Far... After many adventues, Menahem and the others had ventured through a portal to find themselves deep in a strange underground bunker. It is here they met Solomon and aided him in breaking into a vault which he claimed held some of the greatest treasures of all time... )
Eorconlid peers at the keypad on the safe and scratching his chin, starts to look about the vault chamber for any clues as to how to open it. Stumpy meanwhile is still looking a little stunned at the sight of all the 'treasure' and wanders about in a daze, looking at the various items. Close examination of several of the individual items causes his face to harden somewhat and he turns to Solomon.
"This is all trash!" he snarls, "where's all this holy treasure you were rabbiting on about?" As he finishes the sentence his eyes stray to the crown and the safe "Oh that's more like it! Bags I have a go at the safe first. Menahem you go play with the crown. Assuming you're head isn't too big to fit it of course"
Stumpy then laughs hugely at what is considered an especially subtle joke (by dwarfish standards), and scampers off towards the safe, pulling his various tools out as he goes.
Joshua quickly turns to Stumpy and tells him, "I applaud your inquisitiveness but hold your horses for a moment. I suggest we consult Solomon before you indulge yourself - remember the saying about 'fools rushing in!'" He then looks hard at Eorconlid as if this applies to him as well.
"Look," continues Joshua, "we're all men of the world so let's concentrate carefully on our surroundings in respect of the safe, keypad and golden crown. There's obviously, I feel a lot for us to learn so I suggest caution." He turns to Menahem and continues, "I know this is unlike a F'norian but... I've learned from yourself that knowledge is important but only if gained by fact rather than rumour and the like."
Fingering his Ring of True Vision, he starts to scan the chamber and finds that none of the items appears to be magical, including the crown which Menahem is now holding.
Menahem turns to Solomon and asks if he knows what the crown is and what it does. Solomon stops examining a pile of plastic sheets and looks, his face lighting up even further when he sees it. "That is the crown he wore in his Los Vagen concerts," he exclaims, "I have all of them on vid disc. He was a wild crowd jigger then!"
Menahem prays to A'stall and gets the distinct feeling the crown is there to be worn. As he got not warnings of it being a threat, he carefully places it upon his head and finds it to be quite a snug fit. Reaching his hand up, he flicks the switch and everyone is provided with the sight of Menahem wearing a flashing light show. Tiny lights on it flash this way and that following a pattern that always ends with the letters SP becoming multi-coloured. Everyone seems to think that it looks rather neat, all that is except Eorconlid who comments impatiently, "Look are we going to try and get in this safe or what!" "No need to have a cybercow man," says Solomon, "let me enjoy this veritable shrine for a while."
Eorconlid looks down at Stumpy and indicates surreptitiously that he thinks Solomon is a little 'out to lunch'.
Stumpy has checked the safe for traps and as far as he is able to ascertain it is not trapped. He now turns his attention to the keypad and ponders how to open it. He knows a sequence of the buttons opened the door to this vault and suspects that this keypad would also require some kind of sequence but his experience tells him it would not be the same one. As there is no actual lock for him to pick he feels it might be a little beyond him to try picking it with conventional means.
"Do you know a way to open this safe?" he asks Solomon who answers, "I'm afraid not. If I can't find a code or the likes within here I thought I might risk trying to blow the doors off."
At this point Joshua pauses from what he is doing as if he is going to say something but then closes his mouth as if thinking better of it and goes back to what he was doing before.
Waiting for someone to find him the correct code, Stumpy puts on his lion belt of strength and tries to ascertain its effects. He flexes his dwarven muscles and senses that he is imbibed with more physical power. Turning his attention to his flask of holding and tries to ascertain what's inside. Lifting it up he sways it from side to side to gather that there is something soft which shifts inside with the movements of the flask. As he then stops moving it and holds it horizontally, he thinks that he felt movement within as if something moved of its own accord.
Meanwhile, rummaging through some plastic sheets which have writing upon them Eorconlid declares, "I think I've found something scribbled on this one." He then reads from the sheet, "One for the credits, two for the show, three to get ready and go catz go!"
